Nordish is the neighborhood store for everyone who wants to eat well and sustainably, and purchase fair products. Here one can pop in and order lunch, have a coffee, or order a huge corporate lunch through the app, which is delivered sustainably on an electric bike. For Nordish, we designed and built a new app for ordering and payment, we integrated the app with a cloud-based cash register system and payment system. Through the app, you can order Nordish's own dishes directly from the kitchen or shop from a wide range of organic and planet-friendly products. Nordish has just opened the doors to its convenience store in Stockholm.

Taking a step back is to take a step forward. Nordish's main focus is to incorporate really good local produce in season - feast on colorful and nutritious food from neighboring farms.

Nordic as a concept has existed for several years but has always had the same focus: to solve the big question: Why is it so incredibly difficult to find food that doesn't compromise on taste, cholesterol levels, or the well-being of the planet? The solution is simple: make it easier and more fun to make sustainable choices.

In the store, you will find ice-cold beverages, snacks, dinner kits, snacks that are perfect both before and after a meal, the most important pantry items, and of course other essentials that might be needed to simplify your everyday life.

A living menu - for a sustainable kitchen

In a Nordic kitchen, no compromises are made on quality. Here, the big city meets local ingredients. Here is the everyday food for you on the go. Your cozy dinner is just a block away. No fuss. No chemicals. Just good products. The selection varies with the season. In the app, there's always something new to discover. The UX design is developed to allow for a flexible menu where products and food are offered according to the season.

The challenge was to be able to display a wide range of products in a small space. Special offers and discount codes reflect what we wanted to achieve: a community feeling with satisfied customers who return time and again. The app also offers the deal of the week and special promotions.

Pick Up & Delivery via the app

You can choose whether you want to come by the Nordish store or have your items delivered to your door. We built a cross-platform app where anyone who wants to order food or goods can do so directly on their mobile.

The app becomes the obvious choice whether you are at home, at work, or sitting with a coffee in the store placing your order. We developed the app in React Native and it's available for iPhone and on Android. Nordish delivers sustainably and transports the food with cargo bikes to a nearby collection area. Download the app, collect loyalty points, and get food and goods delivered to your door.

No to cash register systems!

We carefully selected third-party providers. After evaluating various cash register systems from different suppliers, we decided on a web-based system that works excellently on mobile devices. The system is called Ancon, where we integrated the app with the cash register system as well as their Point of Sale (POS) for retail staff and Kitchen Display System (KDS) for the chefs.

We integrate with Ancon Cloud, Ancon's cloud-based service used to manage stores and their offerings. The menu and associated products are retrieved via the API to present the selection directly in the app. Payments are made directly in the app using the payment service Adyen. To be able to process payments with credit cards and Swish, we integrated Adyen's Drop-Ins for iOS and Android. To enable customers to keep track of their orders, we integrated with services for sending confirmation emails and push notifications.

Digital purchases in the app and physical purchases in the store end up in the same system. This allows existing customers to collect loyalty points from previous purchases when creating an account in the app.

Together we created an app that meets the needs of customers, store staff, and even the delivery team. Far from a poor system, we think.

Decadent design

Nordish has adopted a piping hot style that makes your mouth water. We convey a different feeling than the traditional food ordering apps. The inspiration was drawn from bodegas in New York, with their straightforward and rough expression. It was very important to choose proven design patterns, so that new, inexperienced, hungry, and tired users can quickly and easily place their orders on the bus or while walking home. A juicy style for hungry everyday heroes.
